Timer doesn't countdown but application runs

Issue

The countdown timer stops counting down but the program continues. Also there is no VU-meter.

Problem

The application is waiting for audio data.

Solution

Potential solutions are:

• Another process takes up the recording source with exclusivity
  (Open properties of audio source, select advanced and disable "exclusivity" settings)

• A remote tool takes up the recording source

• A digital audio source stops feeding audio data.
