Settings for GMail

A Gmail account is required to send Email with Gmail.

Configure SMTP for Gmail

In your Google/Gmail account, go to Settings.
Select “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” settings.
Turn “IMAP settings” ON

If 2-step verification is enabled (sometimes called 2-factor authentication)

Then an app password must be created.

Follow the instructions in this Google article. And select “Mail”.

Setting up silence detection for GMail

Use the following settings:

SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
Email address from: gmail-address
SMTP Authorization: ON
Username: gmail-address
Password: app-password created above
Use SSL: ON

Add 1 or more email addresses to the list.

Type Test mail and an OK should be given.
